Dear Subscribers,

The Gemius company has changed the methodology of calculating the rankings of operating systems, web browsers, screen resolutions, color settings, regions and countries.

Up until now, the basis of the rankings was the number of visitors (cookies). Today we will start publishing the ranking calculated on the basis of page views.

The main reason of implementing this new methodology is the problem of deleting cookie files by Internet users.

Except for the ranking of countries, currently all the rankings show data concerning Internet users from Hungary. In the nearest future we will start presenting separate statistics concerning foreign users who visit Hungarian web sites.

Besides, one new statistic has been launched - sample distribution - which is a listing showing the percentages of page views generated to Hungarian web sites by Hungarian Internet users and foreign Internet users.

To keep continuity of the research and to enable comparison of data, the change of methodology concerns the period starting December 26, 2006. Archival data, calculated on the basis of visitors (cookies), is available at http://old.rankings.hu.
